How to Delete Your Account

Option 1: From the App (Recommended)

  1. 1Log in to your SwapAm account
  2. 2Go to Dashboard → Settings
  3. 3Scroll down to the "Danger Zone" section
  4. 4Click "Delete Account"
  5. 5Enter your password to confirm
  6. 6Click "Delete My Account" to permanently delete your account

Option 2: Via Email Request

If you cannot access the app or encounter any issues, you can request account deletion by email:

Please include:

  • Subject: "Account Deletion Request"
  • Your registered email address
  • Your registered phone number

What Gets Deleted

When you delete your account, the following information will be permanently removed:

  • Personal profile information (name, email, phone number, location)
  • Mobile money details (MoMo account information)
  • All swap requests and swap history
  • Vendor matches and connection history
  • Chat conversations and messages
  • Uploaded photos and images
  • Notification preferences and push subscriptions
  • Phone inventory (for vendor accounts)

What We Retain (Legal Requirements)

For legal, financial, and marketplace integrity reasons, some data is retained:

  • Completed payment records

    Retained for 7 years per tax and financial compliance regulations. These records are anonymized and cannot be linked back to you.

  • Ratings and reviews (anonymized)

    Your name and personal details are removed, but the rating score and review content are preserved to maintain marketplace integrity and vendor credibility. Your identity cannot be determined from these records.

  • Aggregated analytics data

    Non-identifiable statistical data used for platform improvement and analysis.

Deletion Timeline

Immediate
Your account is deactivated and you can no longer log in
Within 7 days
Personal data is removed from active databases
Within 30 days
Complete deletion from backup systems (excluding legally required financial records and anonymized data)

Important Notes

  • !This action is permanent. Once your account is deleted, it cannot be recovered.
  • !Active transactions: Vendors with pending or in-progress swaps cannot delete their accounts until all transactions are completed or cancelled.
  • !Create a new account: After deletion, you can create a new account using the same email or phone number, but your previous data will not be restored.
